European removals from Kent.
Kent is the departure county for the continent. Dover and the Eurotunnel are both inside it, and that is a structural advantage on a move abroad rather than a marketing line.
The Kent advantage, stated plainly
A European removal has two legs: getting the load to the water, and everything after. For a firm in the Midlands or the North the first leg is a full day with drivers' hours attached. From Kent it is a short run down the M20 or the A2.
That is not a slogan — it changes what is possible. A house can be loaded in the morning and be at the crossing the same day, and a survey is a local visit rather than an expedition.
What we do, and what we hand on
We handle the Kent end: the survey, the export-standard packing, the inventory, and getting a properly prepared and documented load to Dover or Folkestone.
The individual country corridors — France, Spain, Italy, Portugal and several more — are run by a dedicated sibling firm in this network that holds the destination relationships and the agent network at the far end. Rather than building a competing set of country pages, we will introduce you.
That is a deliberate choice. Two firms in the same network advertising the same Kent-to- France route would help nobody, least of all you.
Which destinations
The network's Kent corridor covers France, Spain, Italy and Portugal. If you are moving to one of those, ask us and we will put you in touch with the right people and stay involved for the Kent end.
If your destination is outside Europe, we will say so plainly rather than take a deposit and work it out later.
Export packing is a different standard
A move to Canterbury gets packed one way. A move to Valencia gets packed another. Goods crossing water are handled more times, sit longer in a vehicle and meet humidity changes. For the period furniture that comes out of Wealden and coastal Kent houses in particular, the heavier standard is the difference between arriving and arriving intact.
Customs, honestly
A UK export declaration, an import entry at destination, and an inventory detailed enough to answer questions before they are asked. Relief on a genuine change of residence has to be applied for with evidence rather than assumed.
The inventory is what actually delays loads. "Household effects, various" is not an inventory, and we would rather spend an extra hour on it than have your furniture wait at a border while somebody answers a query.
Staying in the UK? Long-distance removals covers moves out of the county.
European move questions
Why does starting in Kent help?
Because the domestic leg of a European move is normally the expensive, tiring part, and from Kent it barely exists. Dover and the Eurotunnel terminal at Folkestone are both inside the county. A load leaving a house in Maidstone or Ashford is at the crossing within the hour; a firm in the Midlands spends a full day on the motorway first, and that day is in their price whether it is itemised or not.
Do you handle the whole move to the destination?
We handle the Kent end properly — survey, export packing, and getting a correctly prepared and documented load to the crossing. The individual country corridors are run by a sibling firm in this network that holds the destination relationships. We will make that introduction rather than duplicating work somebody else already does well.
What is export packing?
A heavier standard than an ordinary move. Goods crossing water are handled more times, sit longer in a vehicle and meet humidity changes — so cartons are double-wall, corners are boarded, soft furnishings get moisture protection, and anything with a polished finish is wrapped rather than blanketed. For period furniture out of a Kent house it is worth the difference.
What does customs need now?
A UK export declaration, an import entry at destination, and a detailed inventory. Moving your home rather than furnishing a second property means claiming transfer-of-residence relief, which has conditions and must be evidenced. A vague inventory is what causes delays, not the crossing.
Can you collect from outside Kent?
Yes — loads bound for the Channel consolidate here anyway, so collections en route are routine, including from London and further afield. If your belongings are split between a Kent house and another address, say so and we will plan the pickups together.
What cannot travel?
Fuel, gas bottles, aerosols, paint, solvents and anything flammable, plus restrictions on certain foods and plants entering the EU. We send the list before you start packing rather than finding a tin of white spirit at the port.
